Girl Power

"Despite their often humble backgrounds, the girl groups wore the latest and most stylish dresses (often in matching sets) and set styles for hair and clothing."

I've been listening to a lot of Motown and 60s music lately and unsurprisingly have become obsessed with girl groups of the time. So very glamorous.

I now want big hair, fur, and gorgeous tailored dresses.

Clogs

Forever ago, in elementary school, my mom ran a business selling and exporting used clothes and shoes. It was awesome; because, I ended up with the most random, brilliant, unnecessary shoes--red cowboy boots, real ballet slippers (though I never took lessons) and the ultimate a pair of clogs...with a little wooden heel, that made a clip clop sound as I walked.

I've been mulling it over for a while now and definitely feel they are crucial to my spring/summer wardrobe. I know they are by no means pretty, but I love that! I have always possessed a deep affinity for all things vaguely ugly. I've been dreaming of wearing them with vintage 70s denim dresses and Levi cutoffs paired with bodysuits.

I'd love to find a vintage Frye pair, otherwise I love the modern feel of the Topshop ones.

Let's not go to work this morning...

I woke up to my spinning solar system lamp (I'm much too old for it but I love it so) and the sound of thunder and rain (the house shaking).

And I was so very warm tucked under my blanket, that I just put some music on and crawled back into bed.

Wish I could stay like this all day. Warm and listening to music. But I need to get ready for work...and I will after one more song...or maybe two.

Well I always got my hopes up a palm's length too high...

I re-watched (500) Days of Summer for the first time, since seeing it at the cinema last summer and it made my heart ache all over again. The expectations versus reality scene especially. I'd listened to that Regina Spektor song a hundred times before, but the movie redefined it for me.

It's such a wonderful film. The story, the cast, the narration, the soundtrack, the cinematography, the heartbreak you can see coming but want to believe won't, the longing looks...
