Is it fall yet?

Had to dash back into the house this morning to grab my ugly old lady cardigan.
There was a bite of chill in the air.
I am all kinds of giddy.

"well, i just wanna laugh my way through life
and not worry about whether they think what i'm doing is wrong or right
cause i've got so much to learn
and you know this fire's just dying to burn

"but i think it's time to leave...
can i have that guest check please?
i'm saying goodbye, to all the comfortable things
i'm going out living my life
gonna see what a little living will bring"

It's 18:23...

but the day is not over yet.

I am going to make some sense of the wreck that is my room.

Less is so much more...

I love the platinum blonde hair and how fresh faced and effortlessly chic Michelle Williams looked at Cannes. I especially loved these two dresses:

Chanel Couture.

Her Chanel gown reminds me of a dress Carey Mulligan also wore at Cannes. They're nothing alike really except for the twenties silhouette they both share. Simple but so stunning.

Azzaro.

Despite the bow and embellished peter pan collar it does not look the least bit fussy. It's refreshing to see such gorgeous strong, simple and elegant pieces. It has me renewing my admittedly ridiculous search for a bias cut dress of my own.

I thought she looked gorgeous in this dress also, terribly Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday:

Prada.

I feel like I should begin paring down everything I own and wear in hopes of everything making more of an impact.

One day of summer...

I'm normally not one for summer. As soon as it gets hot out, I start dreaming of autumn and cardigans or winter and coats and scarves and gloves. But today was a summer day in spring and I loved it.

Wore a vaguely skanky floral summer dress (new scalloped bra peeking out everywhere), that I lived in all throughout winter with tights and t-shirts and dress shirts and cardigans and blazers...actually considered it quite a prim little thing before today.

Wore heels for the first time in a while and felt so much more myself for it.

Ran errands.

Drove around town listening to (and crooning along with) Phoenix.

Ate an iced sugar cookie.

Drank iced tea.

And finally got the April issue of Elle UK, which I have been waiting weeks (possibly months) for. Picked it up from Borders an hour or so ago.

Today was just one of those ordinary days in which nothing really happened, but all the small things were so very good.

With the sun shining, my can of Diet Pepsi sweating, arms and legs bare, and good music blasting--I really started to believe that as fucked up as things may be; they're still relatively good and will get better. I may also just be sun addled.

Girl Power

"Despite their often humble backgrounds, the girl groups wore the latest and most stylish dresses (often in matching sets) and set styles for hair and clothing."

I've been listening to a lot of Motown and 60s music lately and unsurprisingly have become obsessed with girl groups of the time. So very glamorous.

I now want big hair, fur, and gorgeous tailored dresses.

Clogs

Forever ago, in elementary school, my mom ran a business selling and exporting used clothes and shoes. It was awesome; because, I ended up with the most random, brilliant, unnecessary shoes--red cowboy boots, real ballet slippers (though I never took lessons) and the ultimate a pair of clogs...with a little wooden heel, that made a clip clop sound as I walked.

I've been mulling it over for a while now and definitely feel they are crucial to my spring/summer wardrobe. I know they are by no means pretty, but I love that! I have always possessed a deep affinity for all things vaguely ugly. I've been dreaming of wearing them with vintage 70s denim dresses and Levi cutoffs paired with bodysuits.

I'd love to find a vintage Frye pair, otherwise I love the modern feel of the Topshop ones.
